  • Gerry Pollet is a member of the Washington State House of Representatives, representing the 46th District (Seattle (parts), Lake Forest Park, Kenmore). He is also a public interest and environmental attorney. He works as the highly honored director of the environmental group Heart of America Northwest, which has been leading the effort for the cleanup of Hanford, the most contaminated area in the western hemisphere. Gerry spearheaded the initiative to stop Hanford from being used as a national radioactive hazardous waste dump from nuclear weapons production (I-297), which won with the highest vote total in state history. Gerry has written and led the organizing efforts for numerous state laws protecting: the environment, children, consumers, seniors, and state and local government whistleblowers. Gerry served on the board of Citizens for Balanced Growth and lobbied for passage of the Growth Management Act; and, our state laws protecting communities from hazardous wastes. Gerry serves on the Board (Secretary) of the Washington Coalition for Open Government. Gerry has been a vice-chair and secretary of the 46th District Democrats. Gerry and his wife, Janet Miller, have worked to build the 46th District Democrats over the past two decades. Gerry has been honored with Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility's top annual award for working for peace and the environment in Washington State (previously given to Governor (now former Gov) Mike Lowry (who has endorsed Gerry) and Gov. (then AG) Chris Gregoire. His work has been frequently cited in the press, including the NY Times, WA Post and newspapers across the Northwest. *
