The Empire of All Russia still exists in the Place in the Sun timeline, but has collapsed in power since Red October. The Soviets rose up in Saint Petersburg, in a later 1920s revolution, but the Tzar managed to deploy the Russian Army against the rioters, and a weak order was re-established. Russia has regressed into a weak police state, the young Tsar Alexei is as superstitious as his mother, and lives in constant fear of the surviving Bolsheviks. As the new 'Sick Man of Europe' Russia is rapidly losing control of its territories, indeed much of the Russian Far East is no longer under de facto control. European Russia has held together, in chief out of fear of the Germans, but is collapsing fast.
