Though generally assumed to be a dragon of the Drakar'ri, very little is known about the entity that is refered to as Xil'varath beyond rumour and speculation. Xil'varath is presumed to be a Drakar'ri entirely aligned with the Shadow, and one of the key elements behind the catastrophic event known as the Cataclysm. It is believed that Xil'varath was originally destroyed by Sara'tharalax, a Drakar'ri aligned with the Light shortly before, or perhaps soon after, the Cataclysm itself. The destruction is said to have been mutual.

  • Though generally assumed to be a dragon of the Drakar'ri, very little is known about the entity that is refered to as Xil'varath beyond rumour and speculation. It is thought that Xil'varath currently resides in the "Plane of Shadows", which is assumed to be the place that all Shadow stems from, and a place where those who are capable of manipulating the Shadow sometimes enter and leave in brief flashes in order to accomplish such powers like Teleportation and Shadow Walk. Both the Cult of the Dragon and the Brotherhood of the Arcane in Ebonhold str said to be attempting to bring Xil'varath back into the Prime Material Plane, which is generally believed to be an exceptionally dire scenario should it ever come to pass. The Cult of the Dragon itself is said to take order directly from Xil'varath, though what that actually means is subject to interpretation due to the generally unforthcoming nature of the Cult. Serath Kahar, Sara'tharalax's chosen conduit of the Light, is said to be working against Xil'varath and any plan to remove him from the Plane of Shadows. However, what the Prince means by this is relatively unknown, but is believed to be related to the Silver Dawn event, and the restoration of the Light to Fastheld. The Dracolich Kas'arath is known to have been an Aspect of Xil'varath, and it is assumed that the conflict between that Aspect and the Aspect known as Aisha'taria was Xil'varath last attempts at reclaiming physical mortality. However, as Xil'varath has never been seen or heard from, and as the name of Xil'varath remains exactly that, all such information is entirely speculation.
