Matt Busby (26 May 1909 - 20 January 1994) was a former Scottish footballer and manager most notorious for managing Manchester United between 1946 and 1969 and he later returned for half of the 70/71 season. Matt was appointed manager of Man United in 1945 on a five-year contract and in 1948 he won the FA Cup and then in 1952 he won the league championship. He started to bring in youngsters into the squad, influencing the nickname Busby Babes, such as Duncan Edwards and Jackie Blanchflower Matt also managed the Great British side at the 1948 Olympics, losing 3-1 in the semi-finals to Yugoslavia
