Bhai Saharu, a native of the village of Dalla, in presentday Kapurthala district of the Punjab, was a devout SIKH of the time of GURU AmarDas. He received the rites of initiation at the hands of die Guru at the time of the latter`s visit to Dalla. As he heard of the Guru`s arrival in his village, he, Bhai Gangu and Bhai Bhagu, waited on him to seek instruction. The Guru, according to Bhai Mani SINGH, Sikhan di Bhagat Mala, taught them to love their fellow Sikhs as their own brothers and be always willing to share their victuals with them. "Love the divine Name," said the Guru, "and have faith in the Holy Word. Worship not tombs and monuments." Bhai Saharu and his companions made the Guru`s advice the guiding principle of their life.
