SS Gebirgsjäger-Division Nord was a German unit of the Waffen-SS that existed during World War II. The unit was formed in February 1941, and was one of the primary mountain divisions of the SS. It consisted largely of Bavarian and Austrian SS personnel and was meant to be able to secure very mountainous terrain that would otherwise be very difficult to advance through. In the days following the beginning of April 1945, the Nord division surrendered to American troops in Büdinger Forest, Taunus Mountains.
