The Celestial Empire (also the Great Celestial Empire or Skyriver Empire) was the political body that governed the Galaxy for much of the history before the rise of spacefaring civilization. It was founded in about 1,000,000 BBY, when the Celestials first entered the Galaxy. In 100,000 BBY, after a revolution, it was replaced by the Dominion of the Celestials, which itself would later exist in conjunction with the League of the Six Kingdoms and be replaced by the Infinite Empire of the Rakata, at which point the Celestials would become extinct. The actions taken by the Celestial Empire are thought to be the cause of many astrophysical abnormalities in the Galaxy, such as the Corellian System and the Maw Cluster.
