| - Torene Ostrovsky, also known as 'Rene, was the daughter of Volodyn and Sonja Ostrovsky. She was one of those rare individuals who can hear any dragon. At the time, her Queen, Alaranth, was the largest dragon on Pern. Torene chose the site that would later become Benden Weyr, and became its first Weyrwoman when Alaranth was the first Queen to rise of the dragons assigned to that location. Torene's parents were among those who helped carve out Benden Hold and Benden Weyr. She and M'hall were still Weyrleaders at the start of the First Interval.

This observation led to the custom in modern times of contracting a rider's name upon Impression, e.g., Fallarnon -> F'lar, Mihall -> M'hall. She and M'hall were still Weyrleaders at the start of the First Interval.
