Karya wrote a letter to Daryo and asked Chakotay to give it to him. Unfortunately, Chakotay and his contingent had already discovered that Daryo's contingent had been massacred, but he didn't want Karya to know. He nonetheless agreed to take a letter to the restock unit, so they could "pass it on". The letter was never delivered however, as the Larhana settlement was attacked by the Kradin, and Karya was taken to an extermination facility. Chakotay later found out that neither Karya nor Daryo were real, and he had been brainwashed by the Vori so he would hate the Kradin and fight in their war against them. (VOY: "Nemesis")
