The Grief Counsellor was visited by David Platt at Wordsworth House Counselling Services in October 2016 when he was trying to come to terms with the murder of his wife Kylie some three months earlier. In truth, he had little interest in the visit, only going to stop the nagging from his mother Gail and he spent the session playing a game on his phone and not responding to the friendly overtures of the counsellor. He told him his plans were to go with a bunch of mates to the Dog & Gun pub, not revealing this was a hangout of Clayton Hibbs, his wife's murderer, who he intended to exact his revenge upon.

Coming out of the session, David lied through his back teeth to Gail about its effectiveness, telling her he had found it cathartic.
