It follows the adventures of the Heiko Pirates, being the overall Main Protagonists of Trials of the World, and also the Ace Pirates, being considered Secondary Protagonists who have their own side story detailing their adventures when not shown in the main story line. The Heiko Pirates are constantly found dealing with several Pirate Crews, Organizations, and even the World Government itself, meeting several groups that are deemed to be very dangerous, and are often sought out by the World Government. Due to their escapades, the Heiko Pirates have made several enemies, as well as allies, that allow them to strengthen themselves to face the trials the world brings upon them. As the Heiko Pirates further continue onward in their journey, they find themselves to more frequently confront some of the most feared groups in the entirety of the world. These being Mugen, a Pirate Organization bent on freeing the world of the World Government's grasp by any means necessary, and the Imperial Pirates, a Pirate Crew that was dormant for several years, only to recently reform under their Captain Eonzo D. Into, whose goal is to become the strongest Pirate Crew, surpassing the power of even the Yonko, and put the world under their tyranny. Their enemies are not limited to only Pirate Crews and Organizations, as they've also dealt with powerful Marine forces, such as G-11, CP10 and also Holy, a Marine force led by former Marine Admiral Tsuiho.
