DAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRK ERIC's name is a reference to the DAAAAAAAAAAAARK HEAAAAAAAAAAART running gag in the second Care Bears review, and the Missingno. arc started around the same time the Entity on Atop the Fourth Wall was revealed to be Missingno.
* The DAAAAAAAAAAAARK HEAAAAAAAAAAART reference gets extremely ironic when Tox (the writer) purposefully confuses ERIC with HEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAART.
* This trope is lampshaded in Mall Fight 4. "CONFOUND THOSE ERIC BOYS! I HATE TOX! I HATE RAN! AND I HATE ERIC! THEY DRIVE ME TO DO REFERENCES!"
* Eric was actually introduced to The Dover Boys by one of the Fighters including the "A RUNABOUT!" clip in a post, and since then the cartoon has been a popular reference on the whole thread.
