- Nathan Hale (June 6, 1755 – September 22, 1776) was a soldier for the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He volunteered for an intelligence-gathering mission in New York City but was captured by the British and hanged. He is probably best remembered for his purported last words before being hanged: "I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country." Hale has long been considered an American hero and, in 1985, he was officially designated the state hero of Connecticut.

- Nathan Hale is a main character in the Resistance video game series published by Sony Computer Entertainment; appearing as the main protagonist of 2006's Resistance: Fall of Man and 2008's Resistance 2. The Resistance game series was developed by Insomniac Games, a company that previously used to have "friendly competition" in game-designing with Naughty Dog. Hale's skin in Uncharted 2 is based on his appearance throughout Resistance 2, featuring him wearing his black Sentinel outfit. His skin is silent, and has no voice or grunts.

- Nathan Hale is the lead character in the Resistance series on the PlayStation 3. When the Summer 2007 Contest came around, the new 4-way, 128-character format helped Nathan get into the contest. In the end, he finished last against Kirby, L-Block and Laharl.

He was found an orphan as a demon like creature called a Deaglo, Captain Battle changed him back to a human while fighting his master the Black Dragon in Asia. Upon returning to human form, Nathan couldn't recall anything about his past except his name. Captain Battle adopted him and allowed him to become his sidekick under the name Hale "Souvenir" Battle. Souvenir was a nickname that Hale earned for liking to collect souvenirs from his adventures. He helped Captain Battle fight foes such as Baron Doom.
