Synopsis
  • Robin sneaks into Blackgate prison to free David Cain. He is doing so because the people who framed him for the murder of Batgirl actually have Batgirl and will kill her unless he springs Cain and brings him to the rendezvous site. Robin bypasses a complex battery of security measures and frees Cain from his cell. They both escape from Blackgate undetected whereupon they take the Batgyro to the rendezvous at the Blasdell Oil Fields. They are quickly ambushed by ninjas from the League of assassins. Robin puts up a good fight, but they soon overwhelm him through sheer weight of numbers. Cassandra Cain steps forward and it is obvious now, that Robin has fallen into her trap. Cassandra now leads the League of Assassins. She wants to kill her father for raising other girls in the same climate that she was brought up in. It is destroying her knowing that she was not the only one trained by Cain. Cassandra hands Robin an antique revolver and instructs him to kill David Cain. Back in town, a young woman named Zoanne complains to her parents about her new student-partner, Tim Drake. She has no interest in getting to know Tim and resents the fact that she has to work with him for her peer-tutoring assignment. Elsewhere, Robin's street informant, Killa 'Nilla runs into a shadowy figure in an alleyway. He tosses a boomerang down upon the ground and tells him to give it to Robin.

quotation
  • Why does a creature of the night dress a little kid in bright colors and send him out against insane killers? He does it to distract his enemies. To make it easier for Batman to do his job. You and all the other Robins... you've been one more tool in his utility belt.
