Charles XI was King of France. He was born on 30 March 1848 in Ljubljana, son of Prince John Charles of Spain and France (who later became King John III of France) and his wife Archduchess Mary Beatrix of Austria-Este. He became King of France upon the death of his father on 18 November 1887. Charles XI died on 18 July 1909 in the Palace of Versailles, Paris. He married firstly on 4 February 1867 to Princess Margaret of Bourbon-Parma (1847-1893), daughter of Duke Charles III of Parma and his wife Princess Louisa Mary Theresa of France, having the following issue: Blanche (1868-1949)
