[2] KHIZ is owned by Multicultural Broadcasting, which purchased Sunbelt Television, Inc. in 2007.[3] KHIZ now airs multicultural programming every night from 7 pm to 10 pm. The lineup includes a show in Cantonese. KHIZ originally began broadcasting in 1987 as KVVT, the only ABC affiliate in the Mojave Desert region to provide local news programs. In 1995, KHIZ became a charter UPN affiliate. In the mid-2000s, the TV station changed its format and service area to be transmitted in both the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area and the San Bernardino-Riverside Metropolitan Area regions.
