Here at Dantooine, the Sith were able to send troops and receive battle reports without ever being caught by the Republic. For the longest time Jedi Scouts have been baffled of the whereabouts of the Sith stronghold. The strong holds location was finally revealed when Jedi Master Truman Tycho was searching through databanks on a stolen Sith prison-ship. He came upon the coordinates for the ships last destination which stated that the ship was originally headed to Dantooine. Truman believed that Dantooine was a Prison Colony, not a fortress, and that that is where many Republic Prisoners of war were being held. Truman asked the Republic to send a Jedi Rescue squad to hopefully free the prisoners.
