  • The Daleks made extensive use of flying saucers of several types. During the 22nd century Dalek invasion of Earth, they used of saucers for planetary transport. (TV: The Dalek Invasion of Earth) During the Last Great Time War, the Daleks' fleet consisted of about ten million flying saucers, including the Dalek Emperor's flagship. (TV: Dalek, The Parting of the Ways)

  • Flying Saucers, often called U.F.O.'s or Unidentified Flying Objects, are spacecraft that are piloted by Aliens. They are capable of hovering in one place, but have enough thrust to escape Earth's gravity and fly in space. Although usually said to have futuristic weapons, none of the ones on Arthur have had any weapons at all. Some do, however, have tractor beams, although people do not get hurt by them. Flying Saucers mostly appear in the kids' imaginations, especially Buster, but as aliens are real, so are they (although the kids never notice them).
  • A mysterious high speed mini flying saucer! It is equipped with unique weapons that no-one has even seen before! What is the truth behind this strange UFO?
  • Flying saucer was a word mostly to replace the abbreviation UFO (Unidentified Flying Object), as a stereotypical UFO appears to be a large, flying disc. Sherman Peabody called the DeLorean a flying saucer after his father called it "an airplane without wings".
  • The Flying saucer is a small alien ship with a saucer-shaped body used for fast operations that houses two pilots.
  • This trick is one of the most useful "utilities", as it allows you to adjust String Tension (the number of times the string is twisted) without having to manually rewind the yo-yo. As most tricks tend to leave the string more twisted than it was before - Loop the Loop being the notable exception - the throw towards the left is probably the most played. For left handed players the opposite is the case. To play these, you must use a responsive yo-yo, as there is no way of binding a horizontally spinning yo-yo. To adjust the string tension on an unresponsive yo-yo, use the Washing Machine.
  • The Flying Saucer is a ride acquired through opening Sci-Fi Mystery Chests.
  • Flying Saucers are a commonly used form of transportation by various intelligent species. Although objects like these have been observed in the skies throughout all of human history, with well documented examples dating back to the medieval ages at least; the term has been extremely popular for the later half of the 20th century, and is often used interchangeably with U.F.O., both terms having become virtually synonymous with "alien spacecraft", although neither is supposed to mean specifically that. Curiously, the name "flying saucer" was first coined in 1947 to refer to a formation of nine U.F.O.s observed by aviator pilot Kenneth Arnold while in flight; even though the objects described by Arnold were actually shaped more like crescents.
  • Flying Saucer is the name given to a type of unidentified flying object with a disc or saucer-shaped body, usually silver and covered with running lights, moving rapidly either alone or in tight formations with other similar craft. Although disc-shaped flying objects have been interpreted as recorded occasionally since the Middle Ages, the first publicized sighting by Kenneth Arnold in 1947 led to thousands of similar sightings across the world.
  • The stereotypical alien spaceship of many a sci-fi epic is the ubiquitous flying saucer. For some reason spacefaring civilizations across the galaxy have determined that a flying disc is the most effective and efficient means of crossing the void. In actuality the most efficient design for a spacecraft would likely be a sphere as this shape encloses the greatest volume with the least amount of material. They just don't look very cool or quite as alien, though they have their own charms. See also Little Green Men and The Greys, the most common aliens in UFO culture.

Comment
  • Step 10: Note, how the yo-yo continues upwards from the upwards tug from step 8...
  • Step 7: After a few turns, the yo-yo will rotate horizontally and spin the string like a vertical skippig rope. This untwists the string rapidly, so you can not do it indefinitely.
  • The Lariat is a variation on Flying Saucer. The yo-yo is not held in the free hand, but left to spin at the end of the string. To get the yo-yo back, tug up strongly with your throw hand. The yo-yo will jump up, and return as in Flying Saucer. You can even let the string touch your trouser leg, creating a rattling sound. That variation is called Rattlesnake.
  • Step 5: ...and continue as when loosening the string, as described above.
  • Step 8: To bring the yo-yo back, pull it up and release the string.
