The Sabres suspended Morrison for refusing to report to the Rochester Americans. In the NHL he played in 115 games and scored 17 goals and 21 assists. The Sabres suspended Morrison for refusing to report to the Rochester Americans. The following year he jumped to the Minnesota Fighting Saints of the World Hockey Association (WHA). He played three seasons for the Saints and then two more for the Calgary Cowboys. He retired in 1977. In the last game of the 73-74 WHA season, Morrison set a WHA record for the fastest hat trick in league history—scoring three goals within 43 seconds. He later scored his fourth goal of the game allowing him to reach the 40 goal milestone for the season. In the NHL he played in 115 games and scored 17 goals and 21 assists. In the WHA he scored 123 goals and 142 assists in 361 games.
