| - State Capital: Paramount Largest City: Total Population: GOVERNMENT The State Capital is in the same city as the nations capital. Both are in seperate buildings in Paramount. The governor is elected by the people of the state. The President is elected by the people of the country. The current governor is 55 year old Brian Duke who is Independent. Eastern State was first explored during the late 1400s. It is said that it was first settled in around 1499 by English explorers and Spanish explorers. Most settlements occured along the eastern seaboard on the southern half. Old structures from the past remain, but most areas did not maintain their former name. Natives lived sparsely along the east coast of Eastern State. Most lived inland in the desert region and along the west coast. Settlement quickly expanded in the 1700s with white people moving into the desert region. Many wars took place among settlers and indians which caused the for forts to be built around towns and settlements. In 1820, Eastern State's population reached to 1.5 million people. The biggest city at the time was Congress. It was also the main immagration center for outsiders. All business and industry blossumed around Congress. The city in 1820 had just over 530,000 people. It is estimated some 300,000 other people were immigrants in the city alone. Westward expansion was was in full force during the mid 1800s. Congress became the nation's capital in 1810. It lost being the nations capital in 1853 when Paramount became the new nation's capital. For a long time, Eastern State was the only state in the United States of Westernland, until Western State, Northern, and Southern State all joined the union. Paramount then also became the state capital along with being the nations capital. Both offices are held in seperate buildings. Economic promise made Paramount a new haven for citizens to move in. It never did surpass Congress in population though. The majority of the states population today is on the west coast. Today Eastern State is a modern state that contributes greatly to the nation. POPULATION: 824,330 (Metro Area: 912,536) INFO: Congress is a major eastcoast city in Eastern State that served and still serves as a major center for welcoming outsider immigrants. Major corporations and offices sit in this cities downtown. A elevated rail system travels the metro area making it have one of the biggest metro systems in the entire nation. The city is split into many districts, Financial is the downtown heart of the city. There is many middle class housing and low class housing outside the city. A major international airport serves the city. HISTORY: Settled by the English in the 1600s, Congress quickly grew to be a hub city of the new land. By 1700, an estimated 80,000 people lived in Congress making it one of the biggest settlements in the new land. In 1820, when commerce was booming in Congress, the population hit a milestone of 530,000 people. Immigrants were coming into the new land and Congress's ports were the areas that were welcoming the new comers. Today, Congress city limits do not actually reach the sea, becuase what used to be a part of Congress were incorporated as seperate towns such as Principle, or Garland. Those towns have many old low wealth buildings, many of which still house immigrants to this day. Congress became the capital of the United States of Westernland until 1853, when it was moved to Paramount, it's neighbor across the west. This came to a surprise to many, since it was not as big, nor a economically savy as Congress was. Congress today is home to many large banking firms, companies, and airlines. It continues to grow, and house more business eachday. POPULATION: 683,214 (Metro Area: 1,035,892) INFO: Emerald City is often referred to as "The Seattle of Eastern State." The reason being that Seattle is called the "Emerald City" and this Emerald City even looks like Seattle, skyline wise, without a Space Needle. City planners from Seattle, Washington were called her in the 1970's to help design the city and help it grow. Since 1970, over 270,000 new people moved into Emerald City. It has many tourist attractions including boat and helicopter tours, major shopping centers, and a very classy business district downtown. It is a very "Green" city, doing many enviromentally friendly acts, above and beyond most cities. That is not to say Emerald City is liberal by all means, no, it is actually quite conservative. The city connects nature, with the concrete jungle of downtown. You never feel like your in a major city, because there are parks all over the city. Housing is all around the city core which sits by the waterfront. Homes dot the hills and the lowerlands. The International Airport is in the Town of Seacrest, which it shares with the smaller City of Dodge. HISTORY: The settlement of Emerald was first started in 1822 by a few intrepid settlers from Ricardo. It slowly grew as a trading post until the 1850s. Emerald City was incorporated in 1855. At the turn of the century, in 1900, the population of Emerald City was 94,000. Part of this massive influx of people, was because of the Northern State Gold Rush. Emerald City was a major stopping point for people wanting to make it rich in the white north. Logging was huge in Emerald City. The old saying was, "Logging is what keeps the city going." In 1942, Navy ships were constructed on the docks of Emerald City for the United States and the United States of Westernland to fight the Axis Powers in Europe and the Pacific. The 1970's say Emerald City mellow out on growth until new city planners moved in. Since then, the city has grown rapidly to it's current state as a finacial center for the northwest of Eastern State. POPULATION: 554,789 (Metro Area: 586,432) INFO: Paramount is the State Capital of Eastern State and is the nation's capital of The United States of Westernland. Today tourists flock to see the neo-classic design of the city, and it's clean streets. It has an official feel, that no other city in the nation has, a design, different then all the others. It is just different. You have to experience it yourself. Outisde the city is shopping for citizens, but downtown, government offices dominate as well as national security building and military installations. Underground tunnels run throughout the city transporting secret government files, and documents 24/7. Museums and art galleries dot the city. Paramount is a truly vibrant, yet yellow taped city. Security is high, but the sites are amazing. HISTORY: Paramount barely exsisted until 1850. It was merely a small town until it became the nation's capital and state capital in 1853. Nobody understood the reason it became the nation's capital, but the government said it was to "Better govern our states beyond, and it has a good central location to all the states," which is true. When it became the capital in 1853, only 40,000 people lived in Paramount. It was the 3rd biggest city on the west coast at the time. Canyon City, to the east had a population of 80,000, making it the hub city of the lower eastern state communities. During the World Wars, Paramount held many secret meeting with nations leaders of the Allies, as well as many strategic plans were documented here. Today Paramount is a government center and slowly a new growing office corridor is growing, but most of the commercial remains in the suburbs, or Canyon City. POPULATION: 523,698 (Metro Area: 548,830) INFO: Museums and history flow from the city streets of Ricardo. It's Spanish heritage can be seen in the buildings and the elaborate designs on sidewalks. Shopping is a major passion in Ricardo. Different from most major cities, Ricardo keeps it's Spanish heritage by actually having an outdoor market filled with vendors selling clothing goods and foods. Traditional Spanish wears are sold and goods at low prices. Ricardo is a tourist hotspot when it comes to shopping for old world items. HISTORY: Unlike Congress who was settled by the British, Ricardo was settled by the Spanish, but the two cities never really competed against each other. They had a neutral bond until formed in a union as a state and country. Ricardo grew keeping it's Spanish heritage apparent in all it's buildings. It grew to be a major port and a secondary port of entry to Immigrants, mainly the Spanish ones. Ricardo was recognized as a spanish colony in 1620, it had 4,000 inhabitants. In 1700, Ricardo had 40,000 people and continued to grow. By the 1800s, new rough and tough pioneers sprouted among the citizens, and they moved out west, but mainly stayed along the northern shore. The 1850s through the present saw major change for Ricardo as new buildings were built. The first high-rises were constructed and the skyline of thr present began to take shape and form. Ricardo spread out beyond it's safe island setting when the first bridges were constructed in 1857 to connect the island city to the mainland. Ricardo was usually safe from natives becuase it was built on a island, but once all the island space was used up, they spread outward. 1954 saw the re-construction of a major International Airport, since the old one was outdate, and the city has made use of a very well planned bus system. Ricardo today is a econimics center for the northeast and continues to grow. POPULATION: 517,541 (Metro Area: 536,903) INFO: Today casinos and shopping line the major avenue in Canyon City. Even a few movie studios call Canyon City home, making it the movie capital of Eastern State. Movie stars, celebrities and rich people call Canyon City home, and the nice desert heat, and sunny skies 300 days out of the year help bring tourists in year round. Gold Canyon is a short few hours from the city, and it is marveled for it's urban design. Shopping malls dot the suburbs and even a racetrack is in nearby Embrero for race fans. Even a office corridor has businessmen running in and out of buildings all day. As they say, it is "The city of Dreams and Gleam." HISTORY: Canyon City was a frontier town when settled in the early 1800s. It was a rough western town always known for brawls and glitz of showgirls at the saloon, much like today. By 1850, 92,000 people lived in Canyon City. Local Gold Rush's helped bring in more people during the 1860s-1895. The town spread out and never got dense until the first building over five floors was built in 1934. It was thn did a downtown core finally start to grow in Canyon City, and many people moved in. It shaped the Canyon City we know today, as a ritzy, yet two timing gambling city.
