They were met by the Sindar and three companies of Noldor, while the rest fired arrows into Morgoth's ranks. Both armies were destroyed, only Sauron, Grokshar, Elwe, and three other elves escaping. Three weeks later, dragon-fire destroyed the battlefield, leaving only ashes.
