Franz Heidbreder hailed from Mecklenburg. He and most of his family fortunately survived during the midst of the Thirty Years' War. However, he and his family were forced to leave Mecklenburg after their farms and food were requisitioned by the Swedish army. Most of relatives were killed from hunger and disease before finally joining the Committees of Correspondence.
