  • Khartoum is a supremely powerful, evil sorcerer imprisoned on the cover of a large magical book by his longtime enemies. His only hope of release is a magical gem called the Philosopher's Stone which contains the god-like energy and abilities of the cosmos itself. All he needs is someone greedy enough to create the stone and willingly release him from his prison. As it turns out, Mozenrath is that "someone" when he finds the book. After the young wizard creates the stone, Khartoum double crosses him and takes the stone for himself. Khartoum likes a power-hungry wizard.

  • Khartoum is the capital of the Sudan. The Sudan was formerly a region of Egypt and under Turkish control, though heavily influenced by Britain. In 1881 a religious zealot named Mohammed Ahmad declared himself to be the Mahdi, or Islamic Messiah, and led an uprising against the British. The Mahdist rebels captured the city of Khartoum in 1885, forcing the British from the region. Following Mohammed's death shorty afterwards, it became the capital of the new kingdom his successor, Abdallahi, who proclaimed himself Caliph (or "Khalifa"). The Khalifa's rule was unpopular and led to renewed conflict with the British, who eventually defeated and killed him and reimposed their rule over the Sudan.
  • Khartoum is a wizard villain from the episode "The Book of Khartoum" from the Aladdin TV Series. He is voiced by Tony Jay who too voiced Shere Khan and Judge Claude Frollo. Centuries ago, Khartoum was imprisoned by his enemies in his own spell book which contained many secrets of magic. According to Mozenrath, many wizards had sought out the book and he himself had searched for seven years before finally finding it. Using his magic, Mosenrath had re-awakened Khartoum who asked him what he wanted. When Mozenrath claimed that he wanted to know all the secrets of the book Khartoum informed him he would have to make the Philosopher's Stone which contained all the knowledge and secrets of magic.
