The bridge was built sometime before the Great Splitting of the continents. It has been remade several times in it's history. It was named after a great Mage from before the splitting. The bridge is a crossing point between the Northern and Central sections of the Keiros Empire. It was built primarily as a passage to what was then called Messina but is now Keiros City. At the start of the game, the bridge is damaged and under repair forcing the part to go to Pirate's Port rather than Rhalisa to escape. Spoilers end here.

The most famous incident on the bridge was back during the Messina-Rhalisa War, where the Rhalisa forces were approaching Messina and the Battle of St. Angelo's Bridge took place. The bridge would in the game become the site for the famous Final Fantasy battle that originated in Final Fantasy V, the Clash on the Bridge, the secret boss battle with special music against the great six-armed warrior, Gilgamesh Spoilers end here.
