Diary of a Camper is considered to be the first example of machinima. It was produced in 1996 with the engine for the computer game Quake. The film is brief - less than 2 minutes - and features no voice acting whatsoever - all dialog is given via text. The game uses language and situations specific to video games - the term "camper" in this sense refers to a player who remains in one spot to pick off his enemies. The term is negative in connotation and campers are often considered unskilled.
