Placed under martial law by its Imperial governor in 0 ABY, the population of the city eventually rebelled eight years later, overthrowing the Imperial authorities after news of the New Republic's successful liberation of the sector capital Kal'Shebbol reached them. In retaliation, the Imperial Ton-Falk-class escort carrier Kathol Protector deployed TIE bombers to attack the city, which they left ruined and in flames. The survivors banded together and began recovery and relief efforts. They were assisted by the crew of the New Republic CR90 corvette FarStar, as well as medical ships provided by Governor Monjai, the New Republic administrator of Kal'Shebbol.
