  • The Little Bighorn River was a river on the planet Earth, located in the US state of Montana. During the late 19th century, it was the site of a famous battle between the United States Army and Native Americans, where George Armstrong Custer was defeated and died. When Commander William T. Riker stated in 2366 that he didn't like the silence enroute to Nelvana III and that he would have expected a greeting party, Captain Jean-Luc Picard commented that he reminded him "of another noteworthy commander in a similar circumstance...George Armstrong Custer when his Seventh Cavalry arrived at the Little Big Horn." Riker only wished that they might have better luck. (TNG: "The Defector" )
