USS Affray (AMc-112) was an Acme-class minesweeper acquired by the U.S. Navy for the dangerous task of removing mines from minefields laid in the water to prevent ships from passing. Affray – a wooden-hulled, coastal minesweeper built in 1941 at Tacoma, Washington, by the Tacoma Boat Building Co. was acquired by the Navy late in 1941 and was placed in service on 2 December 1941, Lt. R. I. Thieme, USNR, in command.
