| - Fire resistance is typically the most effective from preventing damage to the PC due to the number of monsters using fire-based attacks. Red dragon-hide gauntlets themselves are also immune to fire damage and will not melt despite being made from iron. They can also be used to protect rings from fire damage.
Red dragon-hide gauntlets are typically inferior than elemental gauntlets when used as a source of protection from fire. They, however, can be generated and/or improved to provide better physical protection. Admittedly, even with better stats they still remain destructible through physical or non-fire elemental damage.
