Jon Rollason (born in Birmingham on 9th April, 1931 and died 20th February, 2016) played Dave Robbins in Coronation Street, a friend of Ken Barlow's who appeared at irregular intervals between 1963 and 1971. Away from the programme he appeared in three episodes of The Avengers and also appeared in Doctor Who and had a part in the world premiere broadcast of Harold Pinter's The Dwarves on Radio Three. As well as being an actor Rollason wrote for television, notably for day-time soap opera Crossroads and co-created the 1969 BBC1 series Special Project Air and was a collector of ceramics. He was also a published author and script-writer for radio. He and his wife Mary had two children, and had been married for over fifty years.
