This is actually the second Hot Wheels version of Renault's popular hatchback (see Renault LeCar). This version differs from the LeCar in lacking a sunroof. The Hot Wheels is based on a turbo-charged version of the Renault 5 variously known as the Alpine Turbo and the Gordini Turbo, which was all but indistinguishable from standard models apart from badging, but there was also a very distinctive mid-engined competition version simply called the Renault 5 Turbo. In 2013, Hot Wheels produced a true Renault 5 Turbo with the wide body design.
