  • The Peacock Gloves are richly embroidered high gloves that Jame steals from Edor Thulig, the Tower of Demons, out of Prince Ozymardien's collection. They were made by an old man from threads found on the floor of the city's finest textile shop over a lifetime. After the theft, Jame is contacted by the Lady Melissand, who offers a fortune for them, far beyond what they're worth; she also finds out that the Princess, Ozymardien's virgin bride, is also willing to pay way over their worth for them as a reward for return. Jame starts to suspect that there is more at stake than just a pair of gloves, no matter how beautiful, and finds she's right when she discovers love letters between the Princess and one of her guards slipped inside the lining. She returns the notes, but not the Gloves, to the Princess, and when she finds that Scramp has killed himself, she finds his family and gives the Gloves to Patches, the oldest of Scramp's siblings, telling her to use them to buy herself an apprenticeship to Master Galishan.
