Atterum, the Pirate King, is a Water-aspected Dragon-Blooded who leads the Black Band, a group of pirates based out of the Southwest. The Black Band is notoriously well-liked and connected, and does a very good job of attacking ships that nobody will miss and would not upset any major organization. They also keep amicable relations with the general population as well, sparing lives and only stealing from those that can afford it (and particularly, those that have fallen out of the public's favor). They play a dangerous game of balancing their operations between the Realm's Fire Fleet to the east and the Lintha to the west.

They recently ran into trouble with the Lintha, which Atterum believes to be the work of the Silver Prince. The party returned the favor and struck a Lintha outpost under the guise of the Prince's deathknights. Atterum likes the party and feels a kinship with Dax. He owes the party a favor for their deeds for him.
