Mirror syndrome, also known as triple oedema and Ballantyne syndrome is a type of preeclampsia related to fetal distress. It presents with edema in addition to the usual high blood pressure and protein in urine typical of preeclampsia. In most cases, the fetus will die and either result in a miscarriage or stillbirth with no other ill effects on the mother. A limited number of conditions result in mirror syndrome:
