He detected subspace fluctuations on Alpha Onias III, initially believed to be Romulan in origin. (TNG: "Future Imperfect" ) Gleason was played by Todd Merrill. In his first appearnce, this character wore the one solid pip for an ensign. In his second appearance, his uniform bore a second hollow pip, which was indicative of lieutenant junior grade. This second pip is obscured on his uniform and was not confirmed until the high definition release of the episode.
