The UNSC Beckon Dusk Forth (FFR-054) was a stealth reconnaissance frigate attached to the UNSC Navy and the UNSC Office of Naval Intelligence, UNSC Fleet Intelligence (Section One). In 2590, the UNSC Beckon Dusk Forth, along with a UNSC special warfare team that included Madeline Son, was dispatched on a reconnaissance mission to NGC 2359, a emission nebula 15,000 light-years from Earth towards the Galactic Rim in the Cygnus / Outer Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. FTL communications were subsequently lost weeks after the Beckon Dusk Forth reported that it was initiating the final leg of its jump towards NGC 2359. Months of broadband wide-spectrum communications were never able to provoke a response from the frigate, and UNSC Fleet Intelligence presumed the vessel as missing-in-action (MIA), likely from Slipspace navigational error during its final approach. Because the Beckon Dusk Forth team contained Madeline Son, the daughter of pre-eminent UNSC Special Operations Command Vice Admiral Kawika Son and Master Chief Petty Officer Chandler Danial, there was substantial pressure to launch a search-and-rescue (SAR) operation to search for the lost frigate. After two years of intensive UNSC Navy recovery operations and reconnaissance of the massive nebula and its single planet, no trace of the frigate nor the special forces team was found. This corroborated the hypothesis that the frigate had been lost in Slipspace before it could even reach its reconnaissance destination. Subsequently, there was a memorial held for the Admiral's daughter, as well as the other commandos of the team and the crew of the frigate held at Asphodel Meadows Naval Special Warfare Center.
