The Sage's Rebuttal is an old alehouse in Soronne that appears in Might and Magic: The Sea of Mist. Rolloph worked there as a bartender, and Tasha as a serving woman. It was very popular with the students at the Magistracy, and several of the higher-ups felt that the "den of iniquity" should be closed forever. Eager to learn about his history, and no longer feeling welcome at the Magistrate, Praz-El decided that he would leave the next morning.

It was very popular with the students at the Magistracy, and several of the higher-ups felt that the "den of iniquity" should be closed forever. After slaying the thieves at the Hanged Man's Inn, Praz-El and Telop Vine decided to head to the Sage's Rebuttal and spend their gold. When a sudden storm appeared, they were joined by River, who had just returned from the Burning Ash Forest. The ranger attempted to flirt with Praz-El, but he didn't respond, as he was worried that Lissella Morely might hear about it, ruining his chances with her. While the three friends were chatting, Lissella entered the tavern. She felt jealous by River's presence at Praz-El's table, and accused her of trying to wheedle her way to his side. River pointed out that she didn't need to wheedle her way anywhere - she was welcome at a lot more tables in the room than Lissella was. A sudden chorus of cheers proved her words. Enraged by this, Lissella used her magic to pull down the wagon wheel of lanterns hanging from the ceiling, splattering burning oil across the floor. Rolloph cursed and reached for a bucket of sawdust, but Lissella used her magic to put the fire out and told him to send her the bill for the damages. Suddenly, someone shouted that Magistrate Bo was approaching the tavern. This was very unusual - Magistrates and other officials rarely visited the alehouse. Most of the students hurried out the back door, and River, Lissella, and Telop left as well. Magistrate Bo sat down at Praz-El's table, and after an uncomfortable silence, he gave his foster son a letter he had recently received from Murlank. It promised to tell Praz-El the truth about his life if he would come there. Eager to learn about his history, and no longer feeling welcome at the Magistrate, Praz-El decided that he would leave the next morning.
