| - Introduction: The City-state of Tronac (CoT for short) is a guild that’s set out to accomplish several different things in the dark and dangerous world that surrounds us in Age of Conan. First of all, we want to act as a way for rp´ers to unite under the same banner, and provide a strong foundation as well as provide a loose enough framework that virtually any character concept works within. The long-term goal for CoT is to be a bustling guild, with rp plots, city building, socializing and in the end, to battle for the battlekeeps. As well as being a social platform that the casual player can feel welcome in, we cater to the more hardcore crowd too with plans on endgame raiding, pvp and the like. We welcome the forming of small, and big, cliques of players/characters in the guild, with different goals. Some might be all for high-end role-playing thru politics, why not set up a few merchant organisations battling for expansion within the city. For the more aggressive adventure types, why not be a band of mercenaries that hail from CoT, or if you are into military style rp, just form the city guard. As of now, the possibilities are almost endless for different character concepts and tweaks. Story of the City: ”In the lush valley on the Brythunian borderland she stood, the city of Tronac. Despite her violent past, she was the jewel of the province, the beating heart of Boyar Nerus II´s domain. The city herself was not ancient, but had stood the test of generations of attacks by marauding tribes from the Turan steppes as well as invading Hyperborean rulers looking for easy spoils and victories. The people of Tronac had always been hard, unforgiving and swift to defend their homeland. Yet they were equally welcoming newcomers to settle within in its borders if they proved their worth by their deeds, words and hardiness.“ ~The Brythunian Cronicles, Book IV CoT is a fictive city-state located in Brythunia, a country that’s made up of a multitude of loosely-knit city-states. The city-states are independent of the crown, and a constant bickering among the Boyars ensures that it will stay this way. Boyar Nerus II is old and but a shadow of his former self and in the absence of a heir to the throne, the council has taken over running the city-state. In good old fashioned Brythunian way, the infighting in the council is constant, only uniting when it has to solve real hands on issues. Ic´ly, the player characters are all in one way or another out in the world to find, form and ultimately build a colony to the city-state. The riches of the west awaits! The city-state has always been a melting pot for all cultures in Hyboria, and as such people of all walks of life and heritage are found there. Be it the backstabbing merchant originally from Stygia, or the hardened fighter whose family can be tracked to the icy Cimmeria, all do we call CoT our home. “The spiritual patron of the City-state of Tronac, is the man who gave the city her name, the legendary Tronac himself. A Cimmerian by birth, he had led his tribesmen thru the harsh mountain ranges in search of riches and bounty, but discovered that he found more than he had set his mind to, his true home. As any Cimmerian, he was a strong man in both body and soul, yielding to neither man nor beast if they opposed him. Yet he was tender to those he held close to his heart. The small tribe village soon grew bigger due to free spirited people from all parts of Hyboria finding their way there. As Tronac died, the village had grown to a hamlet, and with the generations passed and the Brythunian Kingdom formed the city managed to keep its independency from the crown. Today she is a bustling city, where merchants do their business with local wares and more exotic objects that their ships carry up the Yellow River before shifting onto caravans for the last part of the trip. The nobles lock themselves into their guarded homes and nightfall to protect their lives and valuables from the thieves and robbers that every city is plagued by. The slaves of noblemen and the bourgeoisie alike scurry around in the city, working on the fields and performing most menial tasks of their masters. The general public makes their living as in any other part of the world and are tradesmen, barkeeps, farmers, soldiers, huntsmen and the like. “ ~An excerpt from a letter sent by Emricus Andahal of the Royal Cartographers Guild to his peers.. The average inhabitant of CoT walks with a straight back, is confident of his abilities and as such, is arrogant and looks down on people that cave in to an unworthy opponent. Years of fending for their land, be it from raiders from the north or by claiming their independency from the crown, has bred hardiness and determination. Why should you join? Well, hopefully because you feel that the idea as such is solid and worth building on. We know, and acknowledge, that there are many small guilds out there that will never reap the full benefits of the game, and mechanics, presented to us in AoC. This is a chance for all those small guild ideas to be merged, and for each clique to have a fairly autonomous standing to the rest of the guild. We are aiming for a medium setting for role-play for CoT, which means that while we all will adhere to the rules as presented to us by Funcom for rp, we won't have enforced role-playing thru the guild channel and so on (ie. ooc guildchat). Hopefully we will see a lot of intraguild role-playing since we have the chance to form the council in game, with our characters, especially after the guild city has been built. With all different factions we foresee forming, this really makes a good platform for intense political/social role-play. For the casual player we give the opportunity to see and use the full potential of the game, reap the fruits of others hard labour if you wish. This however doesn’t mean that the casual gamer is only a name in the playerlist, but is equally important for the guild since they provide an extra meat bag in the intense pvp fighting that will come at endgame, an extra pair of hand for gathering resources. The sky’s the limit even for the casual player! For pvp´ers and pve´ers alike, well you know what it means to be in a active guild. The ease of making groups and forming raids as well as premade minigame-squads are much easier within a big guild than a small one, at least you know what your fellow guild members are made of! Leadership within CoT: We will handle this in two separate ways, IC and OOC. Lets start with the OOC part. There will be a few people handling all parts of the guild that are considered somewhat OOC, like holding the guildmaster/officer titles, recruitment, publishing guild stuff and the like. This does not mean that their characters ingame are leaders of any kind (although in most cases this will be true). However, what the OOC leaders will do is to try to mash all individual ideas together, and help out with tweaking ideas so they can work with the guild concept as a whole. Ic´ly we will hopefully see many leaders in the guild, since we will have many different factions. The council is a perfect example of this. Once we get players that want to take these roles, we incorporate the council into CoT-ingame-lore and rp. Any leader type of any imaginative faction can be a member of the council, so its shouldn’t be much of a problem. OOC leaders at release will be Horatious and Lugh at this point in time (the latter is known as Snubson on these boards), poke either of us for questions. Who are we? The foundation of CoT are made up of people who have spent years together playing mmo´s, dating back to the ancient Ultima Online, to modern-day games like WoW. We are an easygoing, mature, silly and generally welcoming bunch of people from all walks of life, with different job and interests, but a passion for playing online games. Agewise we are between late teens and late thirties, the median somewhere around 25:ish years. When joining, you should feel yourself at home fairly quick. We tend to socialize a lot when playing, be it by splurging silliness all over the guild chat, or by having late night sessions over Ventrilo. There’s always something to chat about huh? Who are you? Generally speaking you are a mature player who enjoys playing mmo´s with other people. Simple as that. CoT allows for any imaginative play style or dedication to the game, and as such, we will never force you into doing something with your game time that you don’t want to. Of course it’s nice if everyone in the guild shows up for special events if they are online, but if it doesn’t suit the individual player at that time, there will be no bitching about it either. Laws of the City-state: 1. Obey the rules of the server as presented to us by Funcom. 2. Don’t be a drama queen, handle problems with other members in a mature way. 3. Don’t piss off the leadership by breaking rule no 1 or 2. To be enrolled as a citizen, feel free to find one of the OOC-officers ingame, or make a post in the recruitmentforum at [1], and we will get in touch with you..
