It was through the relationship of Knuckle and the Woodwasp that Rook Barkwater - who had previously been saved by Knuckle from a Logworm - learnt the importance of a strong affinity between Skycraft and rider, marvelling at the way the slaughterer talked to his craft as though it were alive.
