In Icelandic folklore, the Skoffin was a Basilisk like creature. Its gaze could kill a human. The only means of killing a Skoffin was the gaze of another Skoffin or (in post-medieval accounts) shooting it with a silver bullet with a cross-shape carved into it. In other Icelandic accounts, the Skoffin was a a creature which was a hybrid of a fox and either a cat or dog (depending on the account).
