| - Jim Bray (February 8, 1933- ) is a former NASCAR driver from Long Branch, Ontario, Canada. He competed in fifteen Sprint Cup Series events in his career, spanning from 1962 to 1974. Bray never raced a full season and never had the resources to contend. His best career finish was a 13th place effort at Richmond in his debut. Bray's lack of results can be explained by running at the finish in just four of his fifteen races. Bray went on a nine-year haitus following 1965 and after running four races in 1974 retired from the sport. Included in his stats are 6 starts at Daytona, one being the 1963 Modified-Sportsman race, the only non-Grand National/Winston Cup race that he raced in NASCAR, where he started 30th overall out of 50, but the second fastest Sportsman car. He and his son are now in the process of restoring that car, a 1960 Ford in which he started his Grand National career at Richmond. He sold this car the day after the 1963 Daytona race and reacquired the remains in 1990. Jim also raced in USAC in 1962, 1963 and 1974, including the first USAC Mosport race in 1962 in that same Ford. Jim is now (2010) running a two-car NASCAR Canadian Tire Series team, in search of sponsorship, with drivers Howie Scannell Jr. and Shawn McGlynn. The fathers of both these drivers are actively involved in the team as is Jim's son Robert, so it is quite a family oriented race team. Still running the #56 (since 1952), the #81 (a traditional McGlynn number) and the #49. Jim recently returned from the opening of the NASCAR Hall of Fame where he visited with many old friends.
