The Venatrix-class battlecruiser was a Star Destroyer based on the old Venator-class Star Destroyer, it was visually similar to the Venator-class apart from being longer, higher, wider, faster and with more weaponry and starcraft. Its hyperdrive was improved to class 0.5, one of the fastest and most reliable classes of hyperdrive in the galaxy. It also had more engines than the Venator-class. One Venatrix-class (the Emperor's Wrath) started the Great War against the Human Empire Party when it attacked a GFSS ship (the Darklighter) over Coruscant.

They were widely used by organizations like the Galactic Federation of Sentient Species and the Human Empire Party (even the N'Akkiarlians used captured or their own copies of the Venatrix). The Anti-Human Party used one called "AHP Base 1" as a mobile headquarters (which many Humans felt was ironic, since the Venatrix-class and its centuries old ancestor, the Venator-class were conceived and built by Humans). The Venatrix-class and its ancestor, the Venator-class are two demonstrations of how good we humans are at building starships, but they are only two of many examples of our amazing ship-building prowess, the ability to conceive and build beautiful starships is an ability that has been handed down generation after generation for millenia!—Emporer Hadar Vaynar, leader of the Human Empire Loyalist faction, speaking about how the Venatrix-class and the Venator-class are but two of many examples of Human ship-building prowess and how humanity had passed down the ability to design and create beautiful starships for millenia They were also used by Defense Fleets throughout the galaxy (like the Neimoidian Defence Fleet and the Tatooinian Irregular Fleet). They were also operated by pirates which secretly followed (and during war raided enemy shipping for) the Federation. How political parties and privateers got their hands on such powerful warships is unknown but many on Coruscant believed that one of the Federation's top-brass had been secretly giving them to groups as bribes, though the Senate flatly denied this because they didn't like speculation and spreading false facts. One Venatrix-class (the Emperor's Wrath) started the Great War against the Human Empire Party when it attacked a GFSS ship (the Darklighter) over Coruscant. As with the Venators of the Republic Navy flagships had their bridges' painted to show that they were the flagship of the flotilla.
