Synopsis
  • In the Palmerverse, the Atom, Donna Troy, Jason Todd and a Monitor encounter a strange race of primitive ape-like creatures. Taking a dislike for the Atom's costume, the leader of the tribe orders the others to attack the heroes. Back in Metropolis, Jimmy Olsen dons his Mr. Action costume and patrols the city. He stops a purse-snatcher, and then quickly changes into his civilian guise. He meets with Lois who is interviewing a witness to Mr. Action’s activities. Meanwhile, Mary Marvel, seeking to find a mentor to help her understand her new powers stows away on a cruise ship. The sorceress Zatanna is performing a magic show in the ship's lounge, but not all of the patrons are impressed with her act. In Metropolis, Holly Robinson witnesses Harleen turning away a homeless mother and her child from the shelter. When she questions Harley about the incident, Quinzel responds by saying that the woman fails to meet Athena's standards. Holly plans on asking Athena personally about the type of women she allows inside of her shelter. On Apokolips, Darkseid supervises the creation of a fresh legion of Parademons. He laments the fact that his own children cannot demonstrate the same unwavering loyalty as even the lowest of Parademons. Darkseid’s concubine compliments him on his tenderness, and he responds by disintegrating her. Meanwhile, a Forager skulks beneath the tunnels of Apokolips' capitol city, searching for clues to Lightray's death. Back in the Palmerverse, the heroes continue fighting up against the ape people. Jason Todd gets the drop on the tribe’s chieftain and the fight halts. The chieftain tells them that Ray Palmer has indeed passed through their territory lately. Having learned of Palmer’s troubled soul, the leader told him that the only thing that could bring him solace was magic from a mystical realm. In Gotham City, the Trickster and the Pied Piper enter the Iceberg Lounge. They sneak into the back parlor and wait for the Penguin to enter the room. They ask him for sanctuary, but the Penguin is reluctant to help them since the Rogues have received so much public scrutiny after the death of the Flash. Regardless, he allows them to stay the night inside of the club’s wine cellar. From nearby, Oracle and the Question monitor Piper and the Trickster's activities.
  • The Monitors discuss the recent recreation of the Multiverse. Spawning from New Earth following the events of Infinite Crisis, fifty-two parallel dimensions were created, each reality boasting it's own history, with different versions of known heroes. Each reality also produced it's own Monitor, and the Monitors have collaborated with one another in order to safeguard the new Multiverse from the coming of a "Great Disaster". Already, some Monitors have taken matters into their own hands to purify the Multiverse, including the murder of the alleged reality-hopper Duela Dent.
