The Legend of Narikus is one of the oldest Narikatonite legends. It tells a tale of a man who participated in a great war far away from Narikaton and was slain and sent to Hell to repent for his crimes. After he had repented enough, he was sent back from the underworld and emerged in Narikaton. There Narikus was ordered by the overgods to create a new empire that would carry his name forever. The gods sent him several women so he could choose who he would mate with and the Narikatonite bloodline was born. Then, before his death among his family, he created Narik, the first settlement in Narikaton.

The legend is most likely fiction, but it is believed that a man that influenced Narikus led the nomads who came to Narikaton from the mainland nearly 700 BCE. His name is unknown. Later writers have used Narikus in their tales also, most notably he apperas in the Saga of Heroes, the retelling of the war between Ansest and Narik.
