The Royal Iraqi Armed Forces (Arabic: رويال القوات المسلحة العراقية) are the security forces of the Kingdom of Iraq. The Armed Forces consist of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. There is also the Royal Guard, which is not fully part of the military and is under the direct command of the King of Iraq, and Air Defense, which is considered to be a service of the Air Force. All branches are directly under the authority of the Ministry of Defense, which oversees the Royal Armed Forces. It is led by the Minister of Defense, and works with the General Staff.
