Raffaele Marciello, Jolyon Palmer (son of Jonathan Palmer), Spike Goddard, Pascal Wehrlein and Alex Lynn will all get their first taste of an F1 car, while Marcus Ericsson drives a Sauber for the first time. McLaren will run a Honda engine in an interim chassis dubbed the MP4-29H/1X1. It failed to run in either morning session and only attempted five laps in total, completing three and stopping out on track on the other two. Force India tested the info wing, which shows race data to the fans from on top of the airbox, on the second day. Valtteri Bottas scored the fastest time on the first day, while Pascal Wehrlein set the test's fastest lap time on the second day.
