  • Can I do the interview with Anzix? No. Why? He's requested a temporary restraining order against you for the duration of the interviews. I'll get him back later. I am Amea. A Toa of Sonics. This will most likely be the first and last time you'll hear me talk for this long. So hear me well. I'm from one of the Southern Islands. I think my home village was so small, it didn't show up on maps. But that was okay. A small village meant a quiet village. And I like quiet. Quiet is good. It means people are being peaceful. That's why there's the phrase "peace and quiet". Anzix, a Plasma Toa, landed on our shores one day. I didn't like him. Toa are noisy, so that means they're disruptive and barbaric. He declared that he was going to live on the island from now on. Everyone cheered, but I just went back to my hut and clamped my palms over my ears. Being the only De-Matoran was tough. It wasn't like I was shunned, but people kept away from me out of kindness, you could say. But that was fine by me. Every so often, I'd leave my home and spend a short while in the village. That was that. Things complicated when I became a Toa. One day, a small strongbox washed up on the shore. No one knows why, no one knows who sent it. The box was first taken by the Turaga of our village. Unable to pry it open, each Matoran was given the chance to try. When they all failed, Anzix stepped up to the plate, but to no avail. At last, an irritated me, coming out of my home to see what all the ruckus was about, was unceremoniously shoved the locked casket. I looked up to see who so rudely interposed on me and it was none other than that Toa of Plasma. He begged. He implored. He even put the cherry on top while pleading me to try and open the box. So I struck a deal with him. If he shuts up, I'll do it. The strongbox instantly opens. And inside was a Toa Stone. I didn't even touch it. It just exploded in a supernova of light and I fell on my back, screaming in agony. Yes, turning into a Toa is one of the worst things you can ever experience. It's... you know how some organic beings go through 'puberty'? It's like that, but take five years of gradual growth and squish into five minutes. Through it all, though, I could feel Anzix pinning my arms down so I wouldn't hurt myself in the spasms and telling me "It's not going to be alright, but it is worth it." Two years later. For much of that time, I fell under the tutelage of Anzix. As soon as I stood as a newly-formed Toa of Sonics, he handed me my Hyper katanas and demanded to be allowed to train me. Well, I couldn't say no, could I? But training is harsh and boring. True, I was learning from the best of the best , but I longed for some adventure. Isn't exploring something that Toa was meant to do? After all, I had no team. Surprisingly, I was met with no objection. Anzix heartily agreed to my request, gave me a pat on the head, and sent me on my way. Five uneventful years pass. I chart the entire western South Island Chain, coming across numerous small settlements never before seen. But there was an emptiness. Something was missing. I decided to end my voyage and set sail for my home island. I think I knew what the remedy to this gaping hole inside me was. Fate has an interesting sense of humour. I took a break from my journey home on a small island. It turns out that six Dark Hunter Skakdi calling themselves the Piraka were there, terrorizing the few Matoran that called this place their home. I take up arms against them, managing to knock out a Skakdi of Earth and Fire. Now, I know they were Hakann and Reidak but at that time, I cared not. I just knew they stunk beyond belief. It took a team of six supercharged Toa to take these criminals on. I may be one of the best swordsmen, thanks to Anzix, but it was still pretty stupid to rush at them all at once. So, I lost the fight. The Matoran that could escaped, while the others were probably killed. I fall under the second category. Blinded by Vezok's impact vision, I curl up on the edge of the village, too exhausted to move. The blue Piraka had managed to aim his eyebeams directly at my eyes, permanently frying them. I remember someone tapping me and asking if I was still alive or not. Who even does that? Great Beings, that's who. With a snap of his fingers, I am instantly healed, save for my lost vision. Of that, he said, there was no coming back. 'I cannot create, only repair,' were his words. In short, my eyesight was destroyed beyond recovery. He takes my hand, helps me stand up. Judging from the size of his hand, he must be awfully short, but I dare not say that to a Great Being's face. 'You owe me, Amea.' I nod. 'And you can repay that by helping me out in a Game. What do you say? You'll have to be placed in stasis for while, though. Hope you won't mind.' If it means staying alive and having a chance to meet him again, I'd do anything. My story continues in the Madness Series.
