| - The Shadow Curtain was a supernatural phenomenon enacted by the Methuselah Baba Yaga, being akin to the Soviet Union's Iron Curtain in the mid 1900's. In essence, it blockaded the Umbra of Northern Europe from supernatural influence, preventing arcane modes of communication, spying, or passage in and out of the region. This allowed Baba Yaga to dominate the local kindred population, while culling those who would otherwise have been a threat thanks to outside reinforcements.

This allowed Baba Yaga to dominate the local kindred population, while culling those who would otherwise have been a threat thanks to outside reinforcements. It also meant that outsiders could not spy on Russia via occult means, nor Russia on them. It was only after the death of the Little Grandmother, at the turn of the millennium, that the curtain was finally lifted, for the ancient nosferatu was finally destroyed by the Nictuku Vasilisa.
