Discovered by the adherents of the Void of Animus nearly a decade before the invasion by the Charon Dominion and the destruction of Kathol, the Tome was considered a priceless relic of the pre-Republic era, and proved to be the only reservoir of the entire summed knowledge of the Kathol civilization. The Tome proved to be an exception to what was later discovered to be their traditional method of electing members of their race to telepathically contain their people's knowledge within themselves, due to their people's Force augmented mental capacities.

  • Discovered by the adherents of the Void of Animus nearly a decade before the invasion by the Charon Dominion and the destruction of Kathol, the Tome was considered a priceless relic of the pre-Republic era, and proved to be the only reservoir of the entire summed knowledge of the Kathol civilization. The Tome proved to be an exception to what was later discovered to be their traditional method of electing members of their race to telepathically contain their people's knowledge within themselves, due to their people's Force augmented mental capacities. Very similar to the holocrons utilized by the Jedi and Sith Orders, the Tome was a font of incredibly vast information, the contents of which were directed and filtered by a Gatekeeper, and was accessible only by a Force-sensitive. It was eventually theorized that the ancient warmongering Rakata attained the technology of holocrons from the Kathol, or at least plundered it from them, which arguably supported the claims of some that the Kathol and the Infinite Empire did engage in some capacity of hostilities. The Tome was considered to be priceless, granted immense knowledge of the Kathol civilization unto the followers of the Void of Animus, and revealed the physical likeness of a Kathol to the galaxy for the first time in over one hundred thousand years. The Gatekeeper of the Infinity Tome was a Kathol that once served as a font for the Kathol people, and was known only as "Epizon". The Tome operated by seizing the consciousness of a Force-sensitive that channeled the Force into the device, thereby causing the device's activation, afterwhich the Force-sensitive would be harkened into the Spirit Plane where they would be able to interact with Epizon and gleam the knowledge of the Kathol. It was noted that the mechanics of the Tome, which trapped the consciousness of an individual within to serve as its Gatekeeper, was very similar to the Rakatan mind prison, suggesting a potential connection between the two ancient technologies.
