| - Ted Lemere is the murder victim in Seek (episode). A Marine member of a K-9 bomb detection unit, and the handler of the bomb-sniffing dog, Dex, He had a relatively spotless record, although he did have a report issued against him after getting into a fight with the main dog trainer, Pit, who was known to be strict in his training military dogs. Nonetheless, despite the differences in ideology, Pit recommended Lemere and Dex for participation in the Afghan mission. Lemere later uncovered that the civilian contractors were taking some treasures from within Afghan buildings. Learning this, he refused the job. Although one of the civilian contractors accepted Lemere's decision and had no hard feelings, the other, Chet Tyber, the head of security and a former special ops soldier with sniper training, decided to kill him off while saving some Afghani children, using the echo properties to fool his partner, and by extension, the Marines, into thinking Afghan insurgents had killed him, in order to cover his tracks. NCIS got involved when his wife received a video call from him a day prior to his death that implied that he feared for his life regarding his own unit, which was further confirmed when Ducky discovered a remaining bullet fragment made of tungsten, an alloy typically used by American forces.
